The other stuff

You all know when, where and how.  Now for the other stuff.

Other Stuff
Please understand that Cedar Getters is a farm.  A really nice one, but a farm none the less.  That being said, there will be flies, there will be mosquitoes, there may even be ticks and snakes.  Just be prepared.  The ceremony is out in the sun *fingers crossed*, so if you don’t handle it well (like Brossie) a hat, and an umbrella could be a good idea.
The party will be in a marquee,  the toilets will be poratloos and shadows, there will be water and soap.   A flushing toilet will be available for anyone over 80 or those in a large white dress.

THERE IS NO MOBILE RECEPTION.  There is also no TV reception and no phone line at our shack.  Yes, primitive we know, but really really nice on the weekends.
There are no cabs in Killarney, so if you are planning to get full of the celebration spirit, catch the bus. Our local copper, Brad, is very friendly, and would love to stop you at any time to have a chat.  You have been warned.

Access to Cedar Getters
If you plan to drive to the wedding, just like cobblers children have no shoes,  our road is what you would call.....rustic.  We recommend a high clearance vehicle (Toyota RAV4, Ford Territory, Toyota Kluger, Honda CRV etc) however, if it is dry and if you have a town car you aren’t particularly precious about (or have hired) a Nissan Tida has made it to our shack without drama.

Our place is two hours drive from Brisbane, spectacular scenery and great things to see on the way.  Keep an eye on the website, where we will post or link to great drives to and from the party.

Wet Weather Plan
Keep an eye on the website.  If it rains a bit, we’re still on.  If it rains a lot we have an alternative venue in Killarney.  Buses will still run, there will still be a party.  Gumboots might be a good idea!
Cold.  In summer.
The farm is at 800m plus above sea level.  It will be cool in the evening.  We hope the day will be fine and sunny.  26ish degrees, and hot in the sun.  But when the sun goes down....
It will be cold.  And proper cold.  So bring coats, scarves, maybe some alternate shoes and warm trousers if you are wearing a dress.  This is not a joke.  We have had a new years eve here that was 4 degrees Celsius.  Take this under advisement.

Camping, wild camping and not so wild accommodation
If you want to wild camp, there is plenty of room on our place.  Let us know, and plan to arrive Friday and we can point you in the right direction.  We can probably set up an iron and access to a hot shower before the wedding too.

Queen Mary Falls Caravan Park has great camping and hot showers, our bus will be picking up from there.  Killarney View Caravan Park is good too, and will be the first port of call for the bus as well.

The nearest accommodation to Cedar Getters is pretty much booked out, if you have a big group The Barracks is still available, however, there are heaps of places in Killarney to book.  If you are working on a limited budget,  give us a call and we can probably find you a bed or a space to roll out your swag. Have a look at Airbnb as well.  Surprising I know!

If all else fails there is always the option of rolling out your swag on the verandah or near by.

Little ones
Feel  free to bring kids, but remember the above limits.  We can totally give you contacts for great baby sitters, but sometimes it is nice to get away without your littlies, and lets face it, a hangover on Sunday with small children WILL be challenging.

Gifts
Given that we have been together for nine years, we pretty much have all the practical wedding present stuff. Along with that we know that this isn’t a cheap wedding to come to, we have made almost everyone travel to here (even us!) and that isn’t cheap at all.

Given that, we don’t need you to give us a gift.  We just want you to be here.

If that is really something that doesn’t sit well with you, our style is for things that are good quality, coloured white, gold or clear.
Because David is off on his trip through Europe and central Asia on his motorbike, gift vouchers from Flight Centre would be great.
Because Brossie is staying home (for most of it), vouchers from Freedom Furniture (for an outdoor setting) would be equally well received.

And anything you think we need,  books, art, music..... you know us, you know what we like.

(If you’re feeling REALLY flush, a couple of heifers would be good)
